Two-Headed Serpent
Original artwork by Lynda Howitt
Created during an artist residency in the Mid West town of Northampton, Two-Headed Serpent began around a single sheet of paper shared by a group of local workshop participants.
With no plan for what it would become, we responded to one simple idea: the one constant in life is change.
Layer by layer, through many hands and many conversations, the artwork slowly revealed the form of a two-headed serpent, a timeless symbol of duality, transformation and renewal. It speaks to the tension between holding on and letting go, the wisdom found in reflection, and the courage to embrace new beginnings.
Created as part of the Ebb + Flow project, this artwork now forms part of the Ebb + Flow Statewide Exhibition, bringing together collaborative works created by artists and communities from every region of Western Australia. It will tour the state before being released to its collector.
