The Sea Serpent's Lover
Some loves are not meant to make sense. They simply are, deep, instinctive, found in the most unexpected places in the ocean of life.
The sea serpent moves through the lower depths in vivid cobalt, trailing white water behind it, sinuous and certain. Above, in the swirling dark blues and blacks of the deep, textured like scales, like storm, like mystery, its lover waits. A dolphin. Tender and playful where the serpent is ancient and powerful. Warmth against depth. Light against shadow.
They meet in the circle. They always find each other.
Blush pink and burnt copper run between them like the last warmth of a day, holding the two worlds together. Below the surface and above it. The known and the unknowable. The creature of myth and the creature of joy.
This work is for the person who has loved across difference. Who knows that the most profound connections don't always arrive in expected forms.
Find the kiss. Then you'll see everything.
Mixed media, ink, oil and crystallised salt on paper.
